I feel your pain, Anon.
Working in a male-dominated field yields the same results. (No, I don't throw all men into that category, but there sure seems to be a shitload of them that band together.) One tries to fit in, stay quiet, do a good job, nose to the grindstone… then there comes the point when you can't take it anymore and finally speak up. Call witnesses. People lose their jobs. Suddenly your world blooms in a whole new direction: morally, physically, spiritually, personally, professionally. You can hold your head high. And the buffoons no longer dare mess with you. It's almost like its an initiation you have to pass to be accepted. I chose to leave my position and I"m sure many were happy to see me go at that point in time. Its been 15 years, and now those same people are befriending me on social media and inviting me to Christmas parties, other events. I let bygones be bygones at this point.
