It's time to pass some laws that punish false accusers with the same crime that they are accusing someone of. If you are found to have made false accusations of rape, then you are charged with rape, and when convicted receive the exact same punishment as an actual rapist, including being placed on the sex offender registry.

If this is not done, then people will continue to use this as a political tool, which is absolutely disgusting, as well as harmful to actual victims.

Unfortunately the penalties for those are not strong enough. Someone would gladly take a fine if it meant stopping someone from being confirmed to the SCOTUS that they do not like. Even a 6mo jail sentence wouldn't be that bad as they got their way.

For this type of false accusation that actually ruins peoples lives, there needs to be a much stiffer penalty than a normal defamation. If you set out to ruin someone's life, then yours should be ruined in return. This would be a strong deterrent which is what is needed to stop this nonsense.

He'll likely never see a dime of that either.

False accusers need to be dealt with in the criminal court. Laws need to change or be written making falsely accusing someone of rape or other sex offenses a crime. Stiff penalties such as 7+ years in prison should go along with that.

This is the only way that this will stop. Until then it is a tool for political parties to use at their will. Monetary punishment is stupid, because big donors will just pay the bill. Prison time and felony charges are the only way to deter this type of behavior.
