Any lawfags out there?? Regarding process for upcoming tribunals.

My dig could be wrong but appears that Mattis and Sessions are leading tribunals and not Federal courts or Potus. Is this correct?

started with the Geneva Conventions which led to dig on Hamdan vs Rumsfeld. And then to Military Commissions Act of 2009.

  1. In Hamdan v. Rumsfeld, 548 U.S. 557 (2006), the Supreme Court called into question the President’s unilateral power to convene military commissions, a power which had earlier been recognized in Ex parte Quirin, 317 U.S. 1 (1942). Congress responded with Military Commissions Act of 2006.39 The Act was revised and amended by the Military Commissions Act of 2009.
