Putin may be a rich oligarch, but he works for the light and wants a better russia and world for all. He did just know that no one in American politics have been trustworthy. Look how many times Russia has said they have evidence of 9/11 an inside job, MMH 17 was shot down by russian fighter jet (and many more examples). Putin never had anyone to release this to before.. Now he does.
