Anon, while that is correct, the neutrinos in question that are being detected are high energy, and highly unlikely to pass through the earth without colliding and decaying. Someone in this thread who works on the neutrino detector I mentioned has a better explanation:

Would be nice— held out hope that one day that day would come. Of course, I never thought there were enough good men remaining to make America worth saving, so my perceptions can be clouded, it seems.
