All God wanted from the Jews was for them to be a people who loved Him back. He gave and gives them opportunity repeatedly throughout scripture and history. When Moses led the exodus from Egypt, the promised land wasn’t very far away. He gave them a greater law on the first set of tablets. When Moses discovers their idol worship upon his return from the mount, they were destined to wander in the wilderness for 40 years. A lower law (the 10 commandments) was then given by God, because of their refusal to live a higher law. Yet, God keeps His promises. He fed them with manna. Everyday, they had to gather enough for the day. If they gathered more than a day’s worth, it rotted. Except the day before the Sabbath, they were instructed to gather enough for the Sabbath. If they didn’t they went hungry; if they did it lasted for the two days. All in an effort to teach obedience. Jehovah is the Creator of all things at the direction of His Father, Elohim. Jehovah, God of the Old Testament and the Torah, was and is Jesus Christ in the flesh. Mankind is created of the dust, but is less than the dust, because it obeys God perfectly. Yet, God loves mankind most of all his creations, and gave mankind one thing that his other creations lack and that is to be agents for themselves.
