Many years as a Night Nurse, I'm VERY experienced at handling day shift call offs. People who are chronic and hooky players use the gravelly sounding "THROAT ACHE VOICE". for an attempt to get pity. When someone is really sick they just tell you in there normal voice or sometimes a hoarse voice.

This is why I didn't believe the Ford lady's testimony. She did the whole speech in the Throat Ache Voice. She also laughed at inappropriate times just like a fake call off sometimes does.
