Many observed former victims will assume a catatonic state, a baseline, if you will, wherein a submissive alter takes over, which serves to revert back to the baseline - their default state. A huge marker of this is an open mouth (as stated, she consistently reverts to this). I'm assuming the utility in this is to serve as an obstacle to nerves, but she has to keep reminding herself to close her mouth because "submission" isn't currently useful to her.
Well, this is sort of jumbled. I wish it was easier for me to relay these kinds of things, but understanding of the ways in which these categories overlap is rather archaic.

In fact, it's in use MUCH more often than one might understand.
The issue you're underlining is the ABUSE of shame to influence power.
