USA Today Smears Kavanaugh as Child Molester, Runs Column Saying Keep Him Away From Coaching Kids

USA Today ran a column Friday night by Erik Brady calling on Supreme Court nominee Judge Brett Kavanaugh to be kept away from coaching children even if he is cleared of the last minute uncorroborated allegations of sexual assault that have stalled his nomination. President Trump ordered a new FBI investigation into Kavanaugh Friday afternoon, noting later that this will be his seventh FBI background check, all of which Kavanaugh passed without a blemish of any kind on his record.

Kavanaugh is a coach of girls basketball teams, including his daughter’s. NPR reported when he was nominated in July:

“…He also coached the fourth- through sixth-grade girls basketball teams at Blessed Sacrament, as well as a Montgomery County Recreation girls basketball team and the Classics AAU second grade girls basketball team.”

Much has been written about Brett Kavanaugh as President Trump’s nominee for the Supreme Court, but the discussion has focused on his record as a federal judge and in his legal career. I’d like to talk about him as Coach K. Like the one at Duke University, this Coach K also is a mentor to student-athletes who love basketball. But his players are sixth-grade girls.

Brett’s older daughter and mine have been classmates at Blessed Sacrament School, a small Catholic school in the District, for the past seven years. On evenings and weekends, you’re likely to find Brett at a local gym or athletic field, encouraging his players or watching games with his daughters and their friends. He coaches not one but two girls’ basketball teams. His positive attitude and calm demeanor make the game fun and allow each player to shine. The results have been good: This past season, he led the Blessed Sacrament School’s sixth-grade girls team to an undefeated season and a citywide championship in the local Catholic youth league. To the parents with players on the squad, it’s no surprise that the team photograph with the trophy is displayed prominently in his chambers.

USA Today is promoting the column on Twitter with the statement, “From @usatodaysports: “The U.S. Senate may yet confirm Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court, but he should stay off basketball courts for now when kids are around,” writes @ByErikBrady .” A photo of Kavanaugh with his daughter’s team is added for emphasis.

At Least 30 Killed by 7.5 Magnitude Earthquake, Tsunami in Indonesia

At least 30 people were killed after a 7.5 magnitute earthquake followed by a massive tsunami hit the coastal city of Palu in Indonesia.

A tsunami of up to two meter high hit Palu early Friday, after the city was shaken by a powerful 7.5 magnitude earthquake.

"The bodies of the victims were found in several places, because they were beaten by the debris of buildings that collapsed or because they were swept away by the tsunami (…) but we are still gathering data," a National Disaster Mitigation spokesman said on Saturday, without providing an official death toll, reports Reuters.

However, a hospital official told Metro TV that at least 30 people were killed in the disaster, and that at least 12 other people required orthopedic surgery.

The disaster caused power cuts, interrupting communications, significantly thwarting rescue efforts, Reuters reports. According to a report by Metro TV, the earthquake and the tsunami inflicted severe damange to infrastructure, including destroyed bridges, large cracks in roads and severely damaged buildings.

Local residents say there is still no evacuation underway in Palu.

As Sputnik reported earlier, the main airport on Sulawesi, Mutiara SIS Al-Jufrie Airport, is closed until Saturday evening due to the disaster, according to the Jakarta Globe newspaper.

Extraordinary and Deliberate Lies from the Guardian About Russian Plot to Extract Julian Assange

Russia watchers know that the Guardian is a cesspool of vicious misinformation about Russia, apparently completely corrupted by some noxious combination of British Intel and globalist Russian delusion disorder. Sadly, many Britons still trust this discredited rag.

I am just back from a family funeral – one of a succession – and a combination of circumstances had left me feeling pretty down lately, and not blogging much. But I have to drag myself to the keyboard to denounce a quite extraordinary set of deliberate lies published in the Guardian about a Russian plot to spring Julian Assange last December.

I was closely involved with Julian and with Fidel Narvaez of the Ecuadorean Embassy at the end of last year in discussing possible future destinations for Julian. It is not only the case that Russia did not figure in those plans, it is a fact that Julian directly ruled out the possibility of going to Russia as undesirable. Fidel Narvaez told the Guardian that there was no truth in their story, but the Guardian has instead chosen to run with “four anonymous sources” – about which sources it tells you no more than that.

I have no idea who the Guardian’s “anonymous sources” are, but I know 100% for certain that the entire story of a Russian plot to extract Julian from the Embassy last Christmas Eve is a complete and utter fabrication. I strongly suspect that, as usual, MI6 tool Luke Harding’s “anonymous sources” are in fact the UK security services, and this piece is entirely black propaganda produced by MI6.

It is very serious indeed when a newspaper like the Guardian prints a tissue of deliberate lies in order to spread fake news on behalf of the security services. I cannot find words eloquent enough to express the depth of my contempt for Harding and Katherine Viner, who have betrayed completely the values of journalism.

The aim of the piece is evidently to add a further layer to the fake news of Wikileaks’ (non-existent) relationship to Russia as part of the “Hillary didn’t really lose” narrative.

I am, frankly, rather shocked.

UPDATE: One reason I was so stunned at the Guardian’s publication of these lies is that I had gone direct from the Ecuadorean Embassy to the Guardian building in Kings Cross to give an in-depth but off the record briefing to Euan MacAskill, perhaps their last journalist of real integrity, on the strategy for Julian. I told Euan that Russia was ruled out. I did not mention this yesterday as I greatly respect Euan and wanted to speak to him first. But on phoning the Guardian I find that Euan “retired” the day the lying article was published. That seems a very large coincidence.
