Verified by Psychology Today

My specialties are individual and couples therapy, and occasionally, I will form a small, eight-week couples group. With couples, I work to improve communication, to deepen empathy and mutual understanding, and to resolve conflict. My perspective is that all long term relationships are challenging at times and that the rewards of listening to and of understanding one another are very much worth the, at times, considerable effort involved. My three couples groups are: 1. Communication skills training 2. Influence of early family patterns 3. Couples support group

In my individual work, I specialize in relationship issues, sexuality, depression, and anxiety. As a trained EMDR practitioner, I often work to diminish fears and phobias, and to lower the charge associated with disturbing memories from the past.

I am an interactive therapist and sometimes give homework articles or exercises to hasten attaining our goals. I have worked as a licensed psychologist for over thirty-five years.

I have sketched and painted my entire life. I got in trouble in elementary school for drawing on my blotter during class! As a teenager, I won an award in high school and again later, as a young adult, when I studied at the Montreal Museum of Art. I then chose a career as a clinical psychologist, raised three children, and my art was put on hold. I moved from Palo Alto, California to West Linn 6 years ago and, while I still enjoy a part time private practice as a therapist, have returned to my love of painting. I have joined a group of artists who paint and display their work at Sharon Stevenson’s Cowgirl at Heart studio in Milwaukie.
