Question is where's UAL's major maintenance and overhaul located? I remember Northwest used to fly 747s and DC-10s between its maintenance hub in Minneapolis and international hubs like Boston, Seattle, SFO. Sometimes they'd even fly DC-10s between Minneapolis and Detroit. Managed to catch a couple of these on routes normally served by 757s and A320s when they stopped flying heavies domestically. Just spitballing.
