Earlier this month I attended a living history event outside of Pittsburgh, PA (Eastern Primitive Rendezvous) covering the pre-civil war era. All officially participating re-enactors were required to dress in historically correct clothes and those camping to use historically correct equipment.
As I wandered around, I observed several camps displaying the Masonic compass and square symbols, for example, on flags displayed outside of a tent, or else being worn as part of an outfit.
I'd never seen that before at a living history event.
