All the women I know who have actually been assaulted in the past doubt or flat out don't believe Ford. Doesn't help her case that it's extremely disrespectful and damaging to actual rape victims to use this as a political play.
I went through a similar relationship, verbally abused and forcibly assaulted repeatedly by a boyfriend who claimed to have an unchecked mental illness. I did not report or press charges because of threats, but when I saw months later that he was applying to be on the police force I met with the sheriff to give a full record of his violent and unpredictable behavior. That is why I absolutely do not believe Ford, because when it becomes a situation where they could truly be a harm to society any sane person would try and do something about it like that. So, I don't buy her never bringing it up during these 6 background checks.
