Wikipedia Got $2 Million From Tides That Reinforced Its Sharp Turn To The Political Left

In 2010, Tides granted $2 million to Wikimedia Foundation, the fundraiser and manager of Wikipedia, the online encyclopedia. The “General Support” grant was a blank check to encourage years of left-wing Wikipedia editing and administration to concentrate on sabotaging libertarian and conservative entries. This grant encouraged the corruption of the Wikimedia Foundation’s motto, “Imagine a world in which every single human being can freely share in the sum of all knowledge. That’s our commitment.” In controversial entries, that commitment is not being lived up to and is misleading donors about the nature of their product.

The Foundation, which is the funding source and manager of the Wikipedia, freely allows leftist editors to hijack the Wikipedia profiles of libertarian and conservative organizations with libelous statements and to censor any libertarian or conservative views on controversial issues such as climate change and education. The Foundation’s executive director Lila Tretikov and board members are doing nothing to check hostile Wikipedia editors who engage in editing wars between free-speech and ideology-only editors.

Media Matters Receives Funding Before It Even Exists

The Daily Caller launched an investigation into Media Matters for America, revealing a laundry list of progressive-focused donors that included the Tides Foundation ($4,384,702), George Soros’ Open Society Institutes ($1,075,000), the Ford Foundation ($966,466), and the Sandler Foundation ($400,000). The Caller revealed that more than $28.8 million in funding for Media Matters was collected before its formal incorporation in 2003 – a full 54% of every dollar the organization has raised in its history.

Tides Foundation is recognized as the ancestor and anchor of all the rest, although a central command organization, Tides Network assumed executive power over all the growing Tides entities on August 8, 2005. Tides Network provides “executive and financial leadership and coordination, strategic leadership direction, fundraising, administration, management, planning and coordination of mission communications, administration of human resources and office administration for all related Tides entities and other nonprofit organizations.”

Radical causes

Tides documentation reviewed by WND finds the group provided the following donations to various arms of the Clinton Foundation:

2013: $48,500 to the Clinton Foundation

2012: $12,000 to the Clinton Health Access Initiative, a program of the Clinton Foundation and another $3,000 directly to the foundation.

2011: $19,000 to the Clinton Global Initiative, another branch of the Clinton Foundation.

2009: $5,000 to the Clinton Foundation

The Tides Foundation is also a major donor to the progressive advocacy group Media Matters for America, run by longtime Clinton associate David Brock. Tides gave a total of $4.1 million to Media Matters during the fiscal years of 2004-2009, WND found.

Tides provided an additional $110,000 to Brock’s Media Matters Action Network, the group’s affiliated progressive lobby.

Netanyahu: 'Ridiculous' to Suggest Israel Linked to Ahvaz Attack in Iran

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu denied any connection between his country and the attack in southern Iran that killed at least 24 people in late September.

Netanyahu released an official statement after Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Corps launched six surface-to-surface ballistic missiles at what it called terrorist groups in Syria that suspected of being behind the attack on a military parade in Ahvaz, the Times of Israel reported.

“Iran’s attempt to tie Israel to the terrorist attack in southern Iran is ridiculous,” Netanyahu said in a statement.

He also reacted to a video released by a BBC reporter in Iran showing Iranian missiles with the slogans “Down with USA,” “Down with Israel” and “Down with the house of Saud” written on them. The missiles were supposedly the ones launched Monday into Syria.

Democrat Phil Bredesen: ‘I Don’t Believe the Wall Is the Right Answer’

Former Tennessee Governor Phil Bredesen — running against conservative Rep. Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) for the state’s open Senate seat — said previously he does not “believe” a border wall is “the right answer” for dealing with illegal immigration to the United States.

In Blackburn’s newest ad, Bredesen can be heard telling The Tennesseean that he opposes a border wall along the U.S.-Mexico border, as well as President Trump’s constitutional travel ban that temporarily halts immigration from some of the most dangerous regions in the world.

“I don’t believe the wall is the right answer,” Bredesen can be heard saying in the ad.

Blackburn has been endorsed by Trump and previously told Breitbart News that a border wall is paramount to any deal on immigration.

“It is something that is not just important, I would say it is imperative,” Blackburn said of a border wall.

In a Pulse Opinion Research Poll released in April, nearly 45 percent — a plurality — of Tennessee likely voters said they wanted to see legal immigration levels reduced to less than 250,000 admissions a year. Currently, the U.S. brings in more than 1.5 million legal immigrants every year.
