Completely. The thing about October Surprise is that it's far enough from the election to sink in, and close enough to keep the opposition on defense the entire rest of the cycle before the election. If it's a month out, news cycle has time to change, and - unfortunately - people have very short memories.
Which brings me to the point of changing optics for Sessions, et al. Libs are only interested in Republicans during the time they are on the libs' side. When Graham "switched" the other day, it took literally ZERO time for the left to forget they LOVED him SOOOO much for being a dillweed to POTUS for MONTHS. Nope.
