I believe ALL devices of every kind are compromised.

If you have time, read the Vault 7 releases from Wikileaks.

You will be blown away, if you had previously believed one brand was "more secure" than another or that "disabling alerts" would somehow make your phone safer.

For many years now it has been fairly well understood that cellphones can be turned on stealthily with a "maintenance mode" and can their mic and camera can be accessed and the data can be forwarded to whoever is listening.

The only defense against this, so far as I know, is to take the battery out. Which you cannot do with an Apple brand device.
