Oregon Democratic Sen. Jeff Merkley filed an emergency motion late Tuesday to compel President Donald Trump to release Supreme Court Nominee Brett Kavanaugh’s full record ahead of a Senate confirmation vote.

Merkley said Trump has withheld thousands of pages of documents from Kavanaugh’s record under “presidential privilege.”

The motion asks the court to force Trump to release those records, which Merkley says the Senate has a “constitutional responsibility” to review.

Since Merkley is a democrat, it’s likely that he hasn’t even read the Constitution, which clearly states, in Article II, regarding the powers of the Executive branch: “He shall have Power, by and with the Advice and Consent of the Senate, to make Treaties, provided two thirds of the Senators present concur; and he shall nominate, and by and with the Advice and Consent of the Senate, shall appoint Ambassadors, other public Ministers and Consuls, Judges of the supreme Court, and all other Officers of the United States, whose Appointments are not herein otherwise provided for, and which shall be established by Law”

Breaking: DOJ Indicts 7 Russian Intel Officers as Part of “Influence and Disinformation” Campaign

The Department of Justice indicted seven more Russian intelligence officers on Thursday.

The officers will likely never be tried in the United States.

Three of the men were already charged back in July in connection to the Mueller witch hunt against President Trump.

Via Eric Bass: JusticeDept says Russian GRU operatives used cryptocurrencies to launder funds as part of a broader “influence and disinformation” effort that targeted anti-doping groups, among others. Although the conspirators caused transactions to be conducted in a variety of currencies, including U.S. dollars, they principally used bitcoin when purchasing servers, registering domains, and otherwise making payments in furtherance of hacking activity. The use of bitcoin allowed the conspirators to avoid direct relationships with traditional financial institutions, allowing them to evade greater scrutiny of their identities and sources of funds. According to the DOJ, three of those indicted were previously charged by the U.S. government in July in connection with the investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 presidential campaign.

A grand jury in the Western District of Pennsylvania has indicted seven defendants, all officers in the Russian Main Intelligence Directorate (GRU), a military intelligence agency of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, for computer hacking, wire fraud, aggravated identity theft, and money laundering.

According to the indictment, beginning in or around December 2014 and continuing until at least May 2018, the conspiracy conducted persistent and sophisticated computer intrusions affecting U.S. persons, corporate entities, international organizations, and their respective employees located around the world, based on their strategic interest to the Russian government.

Among the goals of the conspiracy was to publicize stolen information as part of an influence and disinformation campaign designed to undermine, retaliate against, and otherwise delegitimize the efforts of international anti-doping organizations and officials who had publicly exposed a Russian state-sponsored athlete doping program and to damage the reputations of athletes around the world by falsely claiming that such athletes were using banned or performance-enhancing drugs.

The charges were announced at a press conference by Assistant Attorney General for National Security John C. Demers, United States Attorney for the Western District of Pennsylvania Scott W. Brady, FBI Deputy Assistant Director for Cyber Division, Eric Welling, and Director General Mark Flynn for the Royal Canadian Mounted Police.

They accomplished this using a tiny microchip no bigger than a grain of rice.

BBG published the report just hours before Vice President Mike Pence was expected to "string together a narrative of Chinese aggression" during a speech at the Hudson Institute in Washington. According to excerpts leaked to the New York Times, his speech was expected to focus on examples of China's "aggressive moves against American warships, of predatory behavior against their neighbors, and of a sophisticated influence campaign to tilt the midterms and 2020 elections against President Trump". His speech is also expected to focus on how China leverages debt and its capital markets to force foreign governments to submit to its will (something that has happened in Bangladesh and the Czech Republic.

Grassley: FBI Report Clears Kavanugh: No Corroboration, ‘No Hint of Misconduct…Time to Vote’

Senate Judiciary Chairman Chuck Grassley (R-IA) issued a statement Thursday morning on the FBI supplemental report on the Supreme Court nomination of Judge Brett Kavanaugh. Grassley said the report has no corroboration of the allegations of sexual abuse by Kavanaugh at decades ago school parties.

“I’ve now received a committee staff briefing on the FBI’s supplement to Judge Kavanaugh’s background investigation file. There’s nothing in it that we didn’t already know. These uncorroborated accusations have been unequivocally and repeatedly rejected by Judge Kavanaugh, and neither the Judiciary Committee nor the FBI could locate any third parties who can attest to any of the allegations. There’s also no contemporaneous evidence. This investigation found no hint of misconduct and the same is true of the six prior FBI background investigations conducted during Judge Kavanaugh’s 25 years of public service.

“I trust that the career agents of the FBI have done their work independent of political or partisan considerations. That’s exactly what senators from both sides asked for. Now it’s up to senators to fulfill their constitutional duty and make a judgment.

“No one is on trial and the Senate is not a courtroom. But our nation’s tradition of fairness still applies. A presumption of innocence is how the American justice system works, and it should remain our guidepost in the Senate. Abandoning that principle would cut a sad path for the Senate as an institution.

“Here is what we know: Judge Kavanaugh’s former clerks, colleagues and friends from high school to the present acclaim his personal integrity and character. His neighbors and community members recognize his positive contributions to their schools and churches. And his fellow members of the legal profession know him to be a thoughtful and respectful jurist. His judicial record shows that he is fair and rules impartially and without prejudice.

“Fundamentally, we senators ought to wipe away the muck from all the mudslinging and politics and look at this nomination with clear eyes. Judge Kavanaugh is one of the most qualified nominees to ever come before the Senate. He’s served with distinction for twelve years on the nation’s most important circuit court and dedicated himself to serving the American public. We know that he will be an excellent justice because he’s been an excellent judge.

“It’s time to vote. I’ll be voting to confirm Judge Kavanaugh.”

Senators will be allowed to view the FBI report in a secure room Thursday. Ranking Committee Member Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) is reported to have viewed the report after Grassley.

Hacking accusations against Russia a smear campaign timed with NATO cyberwarfare meeting – diplomat

The latest wave of accusations against Russia over alleged government-ordered hacking looks very much like a coordinated media attack timed with a NATO meeting of cyberwarfare, the Russian ambassador to UK told RT.

On Thursday, the UK and the Netherlands claimed that they had foiled cyber attacks by Russian government hackers while the US indicted seven agents of Russian military intelligence for a series of alleged hacking attacks. Canada joined in the chorus, saying that “malicious cyber-operations” also targeted the nation.

The media storm that immediately ensued is simply part of a coordinated attacks on Russia that lack proper proof and are meant to smear its reputation, believes Russian ambassador to Britain Alexander Yakovenko.

“There is a meeting of NATO countries in Brussels today and they are discussing cyberwarfare. NATO countries are basically planning to create their own cyber forces,” Yakovenko told RT, referring to a meeting of NATO defense ministers in the Belgian capital. Among other things the ministers agreed to share cyber capabilities while NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg used the occasion to condemn Russia for its alleged hacking operations.

“We see a well-coordinated campaign to discredit Russia. Of course, from my point of view that’s unacceptable,” the Russian diplomat said.

Yakovenko added that there was a pattern of behavior by Western nations, which used the media to amplify anti-Russian allegations while providing little or no evidence at all to back the claims. And after the media hype is over, whatever case they have against Russia is not shown to the public for scrutiny.

“We have seen this with the [Aleksandr] Litvinenko case. We know how it ended up – with most of the information concerning the [poisoning] classified. Nobody has any access to that,” the diplomat said.

He added that the calls by some British lawmakers and government officials, who said Russia must be punished by cyberattacks that would hurt its economy, are concerning.

“They are calling for something that contradicts the international law,” Yakovenko pointed out.

Russia believes that whatever concerns other nations have about its actions should be discussed at talks with facts at hand and in a serious manner and not broadcast through the media in the way that is happening now.

Swing Vote Susan Collins Says FBI Investigation 'Appears Thorough.' Feinstein Rips It, Admits She Hasn't Read The Whole Report.

Mainstream media, trying to read the tea leaves regarding the upcoming Senate vote on the nomination of Judge Brett Kavanaugh for the Supreme Court, reported that Maine GOP Sen. Susan Collins, considered one of the prime swing votes in the Senate, differed with Democrats crying that the FBI investigation that just closed was insufficient. Collins said that the investigation “appeared to be thorough.”

Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-CA), who has led the charge against Kavanaugh, whined about the conclusion of the FBI investigation, “The most notable part of this report is what’s not in it.” But Feinstein also admitted, “I had the opportunity to read some, but not all of it.”

Collins, GOP Sen. Lisa Murkowski of Alaska, and GOP Sen. Jeff Flake of Arizona have been regarded as the key GOP swing votes on Kavanaugh’s confirmation.

Schumer: Fears That FBI Would Be Limited From Getting All the Facts ‘Have Been Realized’

During a press conference on Thursday, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) stated that fears that the FBI would be limited from getting all the facts in its investigation of Supreme Court nominee Judge Brett Kavanaugh “have been realized.”

Schumer said, “[W]e had many fears that this was a very limited process that would constrain the FBI from getting all the facts. Having received a thorough briefing on the documents, those fears have been realized.”

Schumer further disagreed with Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley’s (R-IA) claim that there wasn’t any hint of misconduct. Schumer also called for both the FBI report and the directive given to the FBI by the White House be made public.

Schumer added that he believes the White House “greatly constrained the investigation from the get-go.”

164 Migrants Arrested in 5 Hours at Arizona Border

Yuma Sector Border Patrol agents apprehended 164 migrants during a five-hour period Tuesday night and Wednesday morning. The sector is witnessing an increase of illegal border crossings–primarily consisting of family units and unaccompanied minors.

Yuma Station agents came upon two “huge groups” of migrants during a five-hour period that began shortly before midnight on Tuesday and ended a few hours later. The discoveries led to the arrest of 164 illegal immigrants in a small section of the border just west of the San Luis port of entry, according to Tucson Sector Border Patrol officials.

In the first incident, the agents found a group of 108 who crossed the border illegally about a half-mile west of the San Luis port of entry, officials stated. The incident occurred shortly before midnight Tuesday. The agents reported the group’s composition as mostly family units and unaccompanied minors from Central America.

About five hours later, agents came upon another group of 58 wishing to surrender to authorities. This incident occurred in about the same area during early morning hours Wednesday.

Officials reported that 88 children crossed the border with 76 adults. The children ranged in age from 3 months to 17 years. Eight of the migrants came to the U.S. from Honduras while 156 traveled from Guatemala.

The 164 migrants will be processed for immigration violations under Yuma Sector guidelines, officials reported.

The number of migrant families making the dangerous trek to illegally cross the border from Mexico into the Arizona desert nearly doubled from FY2017 to FY2018, Breitbart Texas reported.

Israeli Prime Minister Accuses Palestinian National Authority of 'Choking' Gaza

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Thursday accused the Palestinian National Authority (PNA) of suffocating Gaza, controlled by Hamas movement, and warned of grave consequences such policy could lead to.

"[World] countries have to stand up and tell them: 'Seize what you are doing,' especially the choking of Gaza… which could lead to very difficult consequences," Netanyahu said at a joint press conference with German Chancellor Angela Merkel.

The long-standing tensions between Israel and Palestine have escalated in late March when Palestinians launched protest rallies at the Gaza border.

Earlier in the day, the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) said that after assessing the situation the Israeli authorities decided to send reinforcements to southern Israel to "thwart terror and infiltrations from Gaza."

Palestinians seek diplomatic recognition of their independent state on the territories of the West Bank, including East Jerusalem and the Gaza Strip. The Israeli government refuses to recognize Palestine as an independent political and diplomatic entity and continues to build settlements within the occupied areas, despite objections from the United Nations.

The Israeli-Palestinian peace process has been a matter of global concern with the issue of engaging international mediators. The Middle East Quartet has been active since 2002 and is focused on support for Palestine in developing its economy, public institutions, rule of law in preparation for eventual statehood.

Open Borders ‘Absolutely’ Risk Terrorism, Says Border Patrol Sector Chief

The Border Patrol’s Rio Grande Valley Sector chief told Breitbart Texas his agents apprehended migrants from at least 52 countries, including many from nations with connections to terrorism.

“Do you think there is a terrorism risk because of not only the openness of the border in these areas but also because of the nature of the transnational criminal groups south of here?” Breitbart Texas Editor-in-Chief Brandon Darby asked Rio Grande Valley Sector Chief Patrol Agent Manuel Padilla, Jr. in an exclusive interview. “Absolutely,” Padilla responded.

“There is no way that we can accept the risk of people coming into this country without us knowing who they are,” the sector chief stated. “I can tell you that year-to-date, we have apprehended people from 52 different countries. Some of those are Middle Eastern countries, some of those are countries from Africa. So it’s really people from all over the world and we must know how they’re arriving here, who they are, and ensure that the national security mission is done.”

During the interview, Darby cited a 2012 United Nations report on drugs and crime in Central America and the Caribbean.

“They talked about pathways from the Horn of Africa, which would be Somalia, into the United States. They take a lot of the same routes, once they get to South America or Central America that Mexican or Central American migrants take.”

Agents under Padilla’s command arrested a group of nine Bangladeshi nationals in April, Breitbart Texas reported. As of that time, the agents arrested a total of at least 76 Bangladeshis during the 2018 fiscal year.

In the neighboring Laredo Sector, agents arrested 668 Bangladeshi nationals during a record-setting year. In these two sectors alone, nearly 750 Bangladeshi migrants have been apprehended after illegally crossing the border with the help of Mexican drug cartels.

Laredo Sector officials told Breitbart Texas that nearly all of the Bangladeshi nationals arrested this year are young men between the ages of 18 and 35. They explained that the Bangladeshi nationals pay the cartels up to $27,000 each for passage to the U.S.

Bangladesh is described by many as a hotbed of terrorist activity. In March 2017, the British government issued a travel advisory warning of potential terror attacks. It cited several incidents of terrorist activity in the months leading up to issuance.

A 2015 report from the U.S. Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs revealed that “legitimate concerns remain that terrorists could exploit our country’s southwest border to enter the U.S. undetected.” The report continues:

While the likelihood of a terrorist group using the southwest border as an entry point to complete a terrorist attack is an area of debate, the potential for exploitation should be taken seriously given that there was a 70 percent increase from FY2013 to FY2014 in OTMs [Other Than Mexicans] crossing the border. This included individuals from Iraq, Syria, and Egypt. According to Border Patrol agents on the ground, 51 percent of all Border Patrol apprehensions are currently OTMs.
