Senator Heidi Heitkamp (D-ND) announced Thursday afternoon that she will vote “no” on Brett Kavanaugh.

Heitkamp is fighting for re-election this fall–it looks like she’s toast.

A new Mason Dixon poll from North Dakota found incumbent Democrat Heidi Heitkamp down 10 points following the disgusting attacks by the Democrat Party on Judge Brett Kavanaugh.

Heitkamp said, Ford gave heartfelt, credible, and persuasive testimony. It took great courage and also came at great personal cost..It was clear that she was testifying not because she wanted to, but because she felt it was her civic duty.

Heitkamp added she heard the voices of women who have similar stories of sexual assault and abuse.

There is no evidence to support Brett Kavanaugh sexually assaulted Christine Ford, Deborah Ramirez or Julie Swetnick.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said from the Senate floor Thursday morning:

The fact is none of these allegations have been corroborated by the FBI. Neither the Judiciary or FBI could find ANY witness to corroborate the allegations. No backup from any witnesses… This is the United States of America! Nobody is supposed to be guilty until proven innocent in the United States of America!… This is embarrassing to the Senate. The Senate should not set a fundamentally un-American precedent… Brett Kavanaugh is totally qualified for this job.

DACA Recipient Busted for Allegedly Smuggling Nearly 20 Pounds of Meth

Border Patrol agents in the El Centro Sector arrested a DACA recipient for allegedly smuggling more than 17 pounds of methamphetamine on Tuesday morning.

Agents assigned to the Highway 86 immigration checkpoint observed a Kia Optima approaching for inspection. Agents referred the 22-year-old Mexican man to a secondary station. The agents identified the man as a recipient of President Barack Obama’s Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) amnesty program.

A K-9 agent alerted to the possible presence of drugs or humans in the trunk of the Optima. Agents reportedly discovered 14 vacuum-sealed packages in the trunk, according to U.S. Custom and Border Protection officials.

Agents examined the packages and determined they were packed with 17.14 pounds of methamphetamine. Officials estimated the street value of the drugs at $34,284.

The agents arrested the DACA recipient on drug smuggling charges and seized the vehicle and drugs. All were turned over to the Drug Enforcement Administration for investigation.

“Every drug seizure our agents make is an important step forward to secure our streets from dangerous narcotics and dangerous people,” El Centro Chief Patrol Agent Gloria I. Chavez said in a written statement. “I commend our agents for the hard work and dedication in keeping our communities safe.”

Officials did not disclose when the Mexican national illegally entered the U.S. or when he received DACA protections.

During Fiscal Year 2018, El Centro Sector Border Patrol agents seized nearly 1,650 pounds of the dangerous drug. The seizure of these drugs deprived drug cartels and dealers of approximately $4.3 million worth of drug sales at street value.

Amidst Slaughter of Christians, Sisi Boasts of Egypt's Human Rights Record

It’s always something when the leaders of nations known for abusing human rights preach to others about the need to respect human rights. Take Egyptian President Sisi’s recent admonitions during his address before the United Nations. After saying, “We need to address the major shortcomings in the international community’s handling of human rights issues,” he proceeded to criticize the UN because “the Palestinian people were denied their legitimate rights to live in dignity and peace.” At the same time, he boasted of how “Egypt has a solid constitutional foundation for the protection of human rights,” adding:

Major strides have been achieved in the field of women and youth empowerment. Women hold 25% of the ministerial posts and more than 15% of seats in parliament. International youth conferences, which are held annually in Egypt in November, have also become a regular forum for the youth to communicate and raise their concerns. We are determined to continue to accord high priority to the issues of women economic empowerment, and the causes of the youth, science, technology … as a practical example of our commitment to the promotion of human rights in a comprehensive manner.

Glaringly missing from Sisi’s “comprehensive” plans is any mention of “commitment to the promotion of human rights” in the context of religious freedom and equality. The reason for this is simple: as with most Muslim countries, non-Muslim minorities are simply not accorded the same religious freedom and equality as their Muslim counterparts.

This is even enshrined in Egypt’s Constitution itself. Article 2 states, “Islam is the religion of the State … The principles of Islamic Sharia are the main source of legislation.” And, as it happens, Islamic Sharia is emphatic that non-Muslims are at best to be treated as second-class citizens.

As one example, Sharia is clear that nations conquered (or “opened”) by Islam are banned from building non-Islamic houses of worship. In Egypt, which was Christian majority before Islam invaded and subjugated it in the Seventh Century (discussed in detail in Chapter 1 of Sword and Scimitar), the building of churches is virtually impossible. First Christians are confronted by various legal hurdles in their way to opening a church; these often take years if not decades to overcome. (Needless to say, such red tape does not apply to mosques, ten of which are reportedly opened per week in Egypt.)

US Defense Secretary Says Russian Violation of Arms Control Treaty ‘Untenable’

BRUSSELS—U.S. Defense Secretary Jim Mattis said on Oct. 4, that Russia’s violation of an arms control treaty was “untenable” and unless it changed course the United States would respond.

The United States believes Russia is developing a ground-launched system in breach of a Cold War treaty, known as the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces Treaty (INF), that could allow Moscow to launch a nuclear strike on Europe at short notice. Russia has consistently denied any such violation.

“Russia must return to compliance with the INF treaty or the U.S. will need to respond to its cavalier disregard to the treaty’s specific limits,” Mattis told a news conference after a meeting of NATO defense ministers in Brussels.

“The United States is reviewing options in our diplomacy and defense posture to do just that. Make no mistake: The current situation, with Russia in blatant violation of this treaty, is untenable,” Mattis said.

He declined to give details on the possible U.S. response.

The 1987 Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces Treaty bans medium-range missiles capable of hitting Europe or Alaska and ended a Cold War-era crisis, when the Soviet Union installed nearly 400 nuclear warheads pointed at western Europe.

NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg said Moscow had developed a missile known as Novator 9M729, which analysts say is similar to Russian short-range, sea-launched missiles but can fly between 310-3,420 miles.

Mattis’ comments are likely to worsen relations between Moscow and the West, already at a post-Cold War low over Russia’s 2014 seizure of Crimea, its bombing campaign in Syria and accusations of meddling in Western elections.

While the United States has called for Russia to come back into compliance with the INF treaty for several years, Mattis’ comments come just days after Washington’s envoy to NATO said Russia must halt its covert development of the banned cruise missile system or the United States would seek to destroy it before it becomes operational.

U.S. ambassador to NATO Kay Bailey Hutchison said on Tuesday Washington remained committed to a diplomatic solution but was prepared to “take out” any Russian missile if development of the medium-range system continued.

The Russian foreign ministry reacted by saying Hutchison’s comments were dangerous. Hutchison clarified that she was not talking about a preemptive strike against Russia.
