NEW YORK CITY – A Camden man known as the "realnewjerzeydevil" is accused of distributing illegal drugs that killed a woman in her Manhattan apartment.
Michael Jones, 24, allegedly provided heroin and fentanyl used by 29-year-old Diana Haikova, who had a fatal overdose on Dec. 7, 2017, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Manhattan.
The victim had obtained the drugs from Jones two days earlier, according to an indictment.
“Even more abhorrent, Jones allegedly continued to sell the same drugs that contributed to Haikova’s death,” U.S. Attorney Geoffrey S. Berman said Wednesday.
An indictment, filed Sept. 17 and unsealed Wednesday, accuses Jones of also distributing heroin in Manhattan on Feb. 14.
An investigation into Jones’ activity led to “the underbelly of emo rap and its glorification of opioid use,” added James J. Hunt, Special Agent-in-Charge for the federal Drug Enforcement Agency in Manhattan.
The indictment offered no details about the investigation.
Jones used the name "realnewjerzeydevil" on social media and in rap videos on YouTube.
Arrested Wednesday in Miami, he is charged with distribution of heroin and fentanyl and with possessing the drugs with the intent to distribute.
He faces a potential mandatory minimum sentence of 20 years in prison based on his alleged role in Haikova’s death, the federal prosecutor’s office said

this was probably my final redpill, PPACA was hell for me..the name calling and hatred from my so-called friends. Blasted me out of my chair, and I stopped doing social media at that point. But when this came about and the utter failure of it, it was then I did go back on, said I was right and told them they were closed minded and intolerant, and myopic at that. Didn't help, but I felt better.
