This isn't a slide or anything - it's not worth carrying on with, etc. Just wanted to note something re: "How could someone have their wedding on this most momentous day in history".

I really do not regret the position of most about-to-be married couples. You're fucked no matter how considerate and attentive to the schedules, finances, etc. of the people you just want to share a really great thing with.
Ex: 1st marriage - family only ceremony at a location that was meaningful to us. Big celebration a few weeks later with friends and family from around the world. Hotels paid for, open bar, amazing food vs. "chicken or fish", etc. What did we do wrong? We requested "no gifts". (Because we were adults with decent incomes and already had all of the awesome stuff newlyweds register for. PLUS, "you're presence is our present" means something to me.)
But yeah - SO MANY COMPLAINTS!!! Like, not gentle teasing or whatever - like "That was really selfish".
So, yeah. People cannot win.
