UK has spent decades supporting the German defence industry at the expense of its own. Aircraft joint projects have taken years longer and billions more than they should have done. UK has little major Army vehicle manufacturing anymore and has bought and looks like it will continue to buy lots of German vehicles.

Britain is poorly represented by its politicians. There is far too little defence trade going in the other direction. Far too little trade at all given the UK has something like an annual $50bn trade deficit with Germany.
