Don't know if this is helpful info or not, but quite awhile ago - 20 years maybe?? - they discovered that people that survived the Black Plague had a Delta 32 gene. There was a gay guy who had friends dying all around him. This guy never got AIDS and they wondered why. Did a study on him and found the Delta 32 gene. The producers of this show actually went through the old cemeteries in England finding tombstones and tracing any descendants from either those people or their families. The survivors of The Plague all had Delta 32 genes. It was a fascinating documentary.
