I worked through a Recovery Support Service voucher program, and it worked really well. Kids and parents loved it and I thrived. There were limitations and areas to improve, but SOMETHING needs done.
The budget for my county back home, with 13,000 kids, is $270,000,000 next year. They HOPE to get 85% of the kids reading on their level. And I'm SURE the tests are watered down garbage as I know my district hasn't been audited yet. But let's say 85% on real tests, and I mean, if you aren't teaching EVERY child to read, WHAT are you doing?? Unacceptable.
I think vouchers COULD work, but, we need a LOT of schools. Running a school is no small feat. So it couldn't be a BLANKET cure, I don't think, but I'd like to see it in the mix. We can do FAR better for our children for FAR less money. And I intend to prove it.
We need leaders, and we need examples. And I KNOW a LOT of our New School Leaders will come from this board. Where else?? KEK!!

Perfectly stated Anon. The solutions are truly simple. I homeschooled my kids and we were poor with very little so that we could have time, and all of them shine. We just need a little polishing at this point. Deplorable redneck types, but I've been testing and working and studying and saving…I don't know why, I guess I must have always held out at least SOME hope that we would be delivered and then I could grab my little crew that I've collected and we could just go to it. And delivered we were.
I won't need any money for my school because I have some things working for me and I'm out ahead of the curve. If I had $700,000, I could get the building and the equipment to get almost all of our production off the ground.
We will combine Imagination & Industry to INNOVATE. I cannot wait. And I am SO thankful to have you and so many other Anons here who are fired up about us. The kids are FUCKING TRAPPED.

I have heard some horror stories from Hawaii that blow my mind. Friends that thought Hollywood and the Sunset Strip were "cool" (I'd rather die than go to either) were freaked by some of it. Just more confirmation.
