Death Toll From Major Earthquake in Haiti Grows to 14 – Reports

At least 14 people were killed as a result of a major earthquake hitting off the Caribbean island nation of Haiti’s northwestern coast, The Daily Express newspaper reported Sunday citing a local official.

Earlier reports suggested that 11 people were killed.

In addition, a total of 162 people were slightly wounded, while eight suffered serious injuries, according to the director for the ministry of health in the northwest Tony Mondestin as cited by the Miami Herald newspaper.

Earlier in the day, Eddy Jackson Alexis, the Haitian secretary of state in charge of communications, said the death toll was confirmed as of 11 p.m. Saturday, according to The Nouvelliste newspaper. The 5.9-magnitude quake struck off the city of Port-de-Paix at the depth of around 7 miles.

Driver Gets Caught in Protest – Plows Through Mob In Portland

During Saturday’s protest against Kavanaugh, black lives matter, etc. in Portland, a motorist who was caught in the middle of crowd ended up hitting the gas to get away from the mob as they targeted him and his car. The subject(s) of this episode of Protest Of The Week was likely a combination of Kavanaugh and an officer involved shooting, where police shot and killed a man who was suspected in a nearby shooting scene and had a lengthy criminal rap sheet.

The guy driving the silver Lexus got caught up in the middle of the march, and tried to turn to avoid the mob. Watch as one genius protester decides to plant himself in front of the car and try to physically stop it, as other protesters swarm the car.

Meanwhile, Portland police continue to play cover for the protesters, urging drivers and others who have legitimate business downtown to avoid the area. Shouldn’t the police be telling the protesters to not violate multiple laws with their un-permitted marches, blocking of transit, and taking over of public buildings?

If the situation is so dangerous that the police tell people to “use extreme caution” and avoid the area, shouldn’t that warrant some sort of effort to quell the dangerous mob?

And yes, Portland changed the name of Stark Street to Harvey Milk Street. The city should be quarantined off from the rest of the world and left to grow like a bacterial plague in a petri dish so the rest of the country can see what far left wackjobbery does to once-proud cities.

Mormon leader: Nicknames for faith are 'victory for Satan'

SALT LAKE CITY – The president of the Mormon church wants members, the media and others to use the faith's full name, saying nicknames are "a major victory for Satan."

Addressing The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints' twice-yearly conference Sunday in Salt Lake City, Russell M. Nelson says the church's name "is not negotiable."

The Salt Lake Tribune reports that Nelson rejects what he calls "worldly arguments," including the benefits of internet "search engine optimization" with the word "Mormon."

If people use Mormon to describe the church or its members, Nelson urged adherents to "be courteous and patient" in their efforts to correct them.

It comes after the church announced Friday that the famed Mormon Tabernacle Choir will be called the Tabernacle Choir at Temple Square.

It's the first big change since Nelson announced guidelines in August requesting that people stop using previously accepted shorthand names.
