The marks you see on the asphalt and in the grass are from when the vehicle was removed. If you go to the TU article in the link and scroll the pictures, you will see that the limo actually hit trees and an earthen embankment. It appears that the van was headed SSW on Route 30 as it approached the intersection with 30A. He would have been coming down a very long, steep hill to the intersection. Being fall and apple season and a weekend, the store would have been packed and it looks like overflow parking on the grass across from the intersection. If the driver was attempting to steer away from the parking lot to the right, (the driveway goes off to the left in a southerly direction and at an angle across from the intersection) it would have induced a clockwise rotation as the vehicle started sliding. This means that it most likely hit with the left front corner first and rotated into the embankment. It also supposedly hit another vehicle in the parking lot which would also have an affect on the direction and rotation of the limo.
They had to use the jaws to remove most of the victims. A sidewards crash into trees and the embankment could very easily explain the high fatality count. Looks like they had to cut branches on the trees to gain access to and get the vehicle out.
