re: purported arrest of Interpol chief in China.

Asian political elites all in a tizzy these days, trying to figure out which way the wind is blowing with regard to US swamp draining (primarily) and MAGA-type movements in UK/AUS/EU/NZ.

At the end of the day, most of the Asian elites are just greedy opportunists who will get in line behind the dominant global trend or movement. As in any country, there are a few principled people around too who want to make a positive difference.

Most Vietnamese people believe their president was murdered a couple weeks ago by their prime minister, Nguyen Xuan Phuc. I have no idea if that's true, but they believe it so in some sense it might as well be so.

Wouldn't surprise me if that country's ruling cabal is fracturing into pro- and anti-cabal camps.

Vietnam, Laos, United Korea, and Burma could all be key allies in a new policy of containing Chinese attempts to infiltrate and subvert the U.S. government/economy/media.

Something I haven't seen reported much in the int'l press is that the new Vietnamese president, Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh, is also that country's first woman president.

In a few months' time the VN Communist Party will meet to determine whether to extend her presidency beyond the original term of the deceased President Quang.

I have no idea if Thinh, the new president, could easily be classified as a black hat or white hat, but in light of Pence's recent speech and Chinese bullying of the US Navy in the Paracels and Spratlys, it will be interesting to see how US-VN relations develop over the next year.

it would seem that all the saber-rattling proclamations were being written by the cabal (Committee of 300 - HRC/Obongo/Soros faction) rather than coming from Kim or the NK military junta though.

>It is not freedom as we know it, but that is not something important to Asians as they are all collectivist by (social) nature.

That's a really key point the Anon makes, which Mike Pence might have caused some people to miss with his emphasis on human rights, personal freedom, etc.

American policy toward China cannot be based on foisting respect for individual freedoms upon the Chinese people because, frankly, they much prefer wealth and "stability" to freedom.
