"Stop and frisk"

See Terry v Ohio. "Under the 4th amendment to the US constitution, a police officer may STOP a suspect on the street and FRISK him or her without probable cause to arrest, IF the police officer has reasonable suspicion that the person has committed, is committing, or is about to commit a crime AND has reasonable belief that the person may be armed and dangerous."

This has been established an officer safety issue and a reasonable search to protect officer safety since 1968. Media would have you believe officers are jumping out of patrol cars patring down anybody on the street. It simply is not the case. Liberal towns tie officers hands with impossible policies to fight crime. This just returns officers to do their duties in a safe manner.
