Belarus to arm every man, woman & elderly in case of war â president
Every Belarusian citizen, except children, will be given a gun if the country is attacked by an enemy, President Aleksandr Lukashenko said. He also lamented the volume of illegal arms coming to the country from Ukraine.
âI wasnât joking when I said that if weâll have enough firearms â assault rifles, pistols, machine guns and ammo and if, God forbid, thereâs war weâll hand it to every family,â Lukashenko said as cited by STV broadcaster adding that this would amount to seven million people receiving arms.

They all take Saudi money': Suspected murder of WaPo columnist by Saudi Arabia ignored by UK press
WikiLeaks has hit out at UK newspapers which have been curiously circumspect about the alleged murder of Washington Post columnist Jamal Khashoggi inside the Saudi consulate in Turkey last week.
The whistleblower organization tweeted that no British newspaper had led their Monday front pages with news about Khashoggiâs suspected murder despite the fact that news agencies like the Associated Press and Reuters were all reporting on the story â and suggested that the lack of interest from the UK papers was due to the fact that they âall take Saudi moneyâ.

Bulgarian TV journalist who covered EU corruption brutally murdered
A TV reporter who covered EU funds fraud cases was brutally murdered and allegedly raped in northern Bulgaria. The horrific indent is the third murder of a journalist in the EU amid concerns over press freedom.
The body of Victoria Marinova, 30, who hosted a show on local TVN, was found dead on a popular jogging route near the Danube River in the city of Ruse on Saturday. The city has never seen such a brutal crime, according to experienced criminologists cited by local media.Â
The woman was raped and beaten, and succumbed to head injuries and suffocation, according to local media citing investigators. The victimâs cell phone, car keys, and some clothes were not found with her, but the car reportedly was not stolen.
No official version of the chilling murder has been presented so far as the authorities are trying to find the perpetrators, saying itâs âjust a matter of time.â Police have not ruled out any motives for the heinous crime.Â
Meanwhile, the OSCE representative on freedom of the media, Harlem Desir, called on the authorities to âquickly determineâ if this attack was âlinked to her work.â

Mass legal action against Google blocked by UKâs High Court
Britainâs High Court, Monday, blocked a suit against Google over allegations that it collected personal data on over 4 million iPhones users.
The suit, brought by campaign group âGoogle You Owe Usâ, claimed that Google had bypassed privacy settings on the iPhones between August 2011 and February 2012, in order to divide users into categories for advertisers.
The campaign group, led by former Which? director Richard Lloyd, hoped to win ÂŁ1 billion ($1.3bn) in compensation for 4.4 million UK iPhone users.
At the first hearing of the litigation in May, lawyers for Lloyd stated that Google collected information on users racial origin, mental health, political views, sexuality and social class.
The information was aggregated and users put into groups, includingâcurrent affairs enthusiastsâ and âfootball lovers,â according to Lloydâs lawyers. Said groups were then offered to subscribing advertisers in order to direct their marketing.
Hugh Tomlinson QC, representing Lloyd, said that information had been gathered through âclandestine tracking and collationâ of personal data through iPhone usersâ Safari browser â in a practice known as the âSafari workaround.â
Arguing for the case, Tomlinson noted that the activity had been exposed in the US by a PhD researcher as far back as 2012, prompting Google to pay out some $39.5 million in claims.
Googleâs lawyers argued that the litigation was unsuitable, and that there was no suggestion that the Safari workaround led to any data being shared with third parties. They claimed that it was impossible to identify those affected, thus the claim had no prospect of success.
Lloyd said his group would seek permission to appeal the decision.
âTodayâs judgment is extremely disappointing and effectively leaves millions of people without any practical way to seek redress and compensation when their personal data has been misused,â he said in a statement.
âGoogleâs business model is based on using personal data to target adverts to consumers and they must ask permission before using this data. The court accepted that people did not give permission in this case yet slammed the door shut on holding Google to account.â
