So, newfag here, and this whole Red October business had me thinking. I pulled out a first printing of The Hunt for Red October that I had picked up in a garage sale, someone had saved some news articles with it. The article I’m pointing at had a quote from Stansfield Turner, the next C_A Chief after 41, and I thought the quote was interesting:

 

“(Clancy) makes you appreciate the decisions naval commanders may have to make in peacetime could lead the United States and the Soviet Union into war.”

 

Not sure if this has anything to do with what’s going on, but if he was director right after 41, maybe he knew things that had happened, perhaps something that might be pertinent to what’s going on now?

 

At least the quote on the back of the dust jacket is appropriate for where we are with Q now:

 

“An action packed, suspenseful story that’s fun to read”

 

Anyways, probably nothing, but thought I’d throw that in here for those smarter than I to mull over
