Gasoline with ethanol requires a higher fuel/air ratio to run properly. If you have a small engine designed to run on pure gasoline and you run E15, the calibration will not be correct. The engine will run lean and a lean running engine runs hotter and erratically.

Problem solved by re calibrating the carburetor or just go buy 100% gas for your lawn mower.
