Saw one of these over Ann Arbor a few weeks ago. Actual B-17.
I read an article, a guy boosted his compression ratio to 14:1 to run pure ethanol. Higher COmpression = Higher efficiency.
Fuel must be pre-heated in cooler weather, (doesn't vaporize as well as gasoline) and started on gasoline.
Certainly not First On Race Day ….
Not supposed to use higher ethanol in vehicles not designed for it. Some materials (like plastics) are not compatible.
Ethanol is good, but has less BTU's per unit that gasoline.
Her turnout will likely be low.
