Weather Channel's Jim Cantore rescues reporter from Hurricane Michael's powerful winds

Weather Channel meteorologist Jim Cantore rescued an NBC News reporter who was in danger of being knocked off his feet due to the powerful winds from Hurricane Michael.

NBC News correspondent Kerry Sanders was in Panama City Beach, Fla., as the storm made landfall nearby Wednesday afternoon. The hurricane was a powerful Category 4 storm at the time, boasting sustained maximum winds of 155 miles per hour, but there were stronger wind gusts.

At one point, the wind threatened to make Sanders lose his balance and video of that moment shows Cantore walk over and guide Sanders over to a pillar before he ran inside for safety.

Former O.C. teacher found dead in possible suicide before 11th day of molestation trial

A retired Orange County junior high school teacher charged with molesting five students apparently killed himself Wednesday before closing arguments in his trial, authorities said.

David Michael Bruce, 68, was found dead in his home in an unincorporated area of Anaheim.

Bruce, who was free on bail, failed to show up to court for closing arguments on the 11th day of his molestation trial. He had faced a possible life sentence if convicted, but the county district attorney’s office dismissed the case because of his death.

Bruce was the drama teacher at Sycamore Junior High School in Anaheim. Prosecutors alleged that he committed lewd acts with male students over a span of 15 years beginning in 1996.

Bruce claimed he had Hollywood connections and could help the students get movie industry jobs, prosecutors said.

He would take boys to his home and to tapings at Los Angeles studios.

Jeff Bezos's Fortune Just Dropped $9.1 Billion

(Bloomberg) – Plunging global markets lopped $99 billion from the fortunes of the world’s 500 wealthiest people on Wednesday, the year’s second-steepest one-day drop for the Bloomberg Billionaires Index.

Amazon.com Inc. founder Jeff Bezos lost $9.1 billion, the most of anyone on the index, as shares of the online retailer fell the most in more than two years. The plunge lowered Bezos’s net worth to $145.2 billion, its lowest since July.

Jeb Bush wasn’t invited to Barbara’s surprise wedding

WASHINGTON – Jeb Bush wasn’t invited to niece Barbara Bush’s surprise weekend wedding, it was revealed Wednesday.

Former first lady Laura Bush said the former Florida governor and failed presidential candidate didn’t make the cut for the small scale, and short notice, Oct. 7 nuptials — in which her eldest daughter with former President George W. Bush married actor Craig Coyne.

“Well, I think Barbara just kept it a secret, plus so few people were invited,” the former FLOTUS told journalist Cokie Roberts, who interviewed her on stage at an event in Washington D.C.

“It was just our family and Craig’s family. And we didn’t invite Jeb, or Neil, or any of those Bushes.”

President George W. Bush’s sister, Dorothy Bush Koch, did make the cut – as she served as the couple’s officiant.
