Israel's current religion isn't the one from BEFORE their Babylonian Captivity. They lost their temple, GOD and law. they CREATED the oral torah, the Rabbi system and Synagogues. The Pharisees came out of the Rabbinical system as well. So Christ was simply saying the Religous system of Jerusalem in his day was a fraud, run by evil men (Pharisees) who stole widows homes for filthy lucre. the Jews follow the Halakah, a verbal law passed down through generations based on Rabbinical OPINIONS. But they are jealous of Christians
