USS Ross, DDG-71, guided missile destroyer, with 33 commissioned officers, and was one of the ships that participated in the syria missile salvo last year. Ship motto, Fortune Favors Valor.

The ship recieved her name from Donald K. Ross, the first recipient of the medal of honor for WWII for his actions on the USS Nevada during Pearl Harbor.

And one more tidbit, The man Ross died in Bremerton, washington, the namesake city of USS Bremerton that had the cmdr removed during decommissioning at the begining of september.
