So about the security clearance thing. In the past, clearances were renewed every five years. These are periodic reinvestigations. The exception to this occurred because of the OPM hack and PRs were pushed to six years for this one time.

 

You maintain your clearance even though you may not have access. So you might be in a job that doesn't require that level access but you are cleared to that level should your position call for that level of access.

 

What this means, is that her PR is/ was due and she is not submitting the required form to renew it. She is no longer in a position where she needs access and therefore it is being terminated.
