My brother-in-law lives in Manhattan. He is a prominent hedge fund manager and surrounded by libtards. He is staunchly conservative and also Christian. He sent me the following exchange that he had with a liberal supporting Ocasio-Cortez.
B&L: We have been friends a long time. Can you explain why you support this lady? I will listen carefully and not interrupt. I have been told she is a socialist and I don’t think I know enough to offer an intelligent opinion. If you are willing I would like to do a conference call and learn more since I respect you.

Alexandria is Democratic Socialist of America, which is not the same as socialism. I don’t agree with everything Alexandria has said nor do I affiliate with DSA. What makes me excited about her is her youth and energy and vision for our country. Representation is also really important- for us to have a country to serves all of us, we need people who look like all of us in elected office.
It concerns me as your friend that you are bothered by what you have heard about her before you have read about her in her own words. The New Yorker and Rolling Stone, among others, have done some thoughtful reporting that you might enjoy.
I also highly recommend the book The Person You Mean to Be: How Good People Fight Bias by Dolly Chugh.
