A WSJ OpEd today caused me to wonder. It came out rather forcefully in favor of POTUS declassifying FISA. It also spoke just as strongly against HRC. The timing seemed a bit off WRT the news of her security clearance revocation, unless that news had been leaked—which is entirely possible. At any rate, things may have been missed during the Kavanaugh hearings. A shift in narrative? Nunes had been hitting the same points. Baker had been talking. Anyway, some digging for how many stories with the same tale.

Fox:

Sussmann’s contact with Baker suggests another connection between the early stages of the FBI’s Russia probe and those working with the DNC and Clinton campaign. Sussmann's bio on the Perkins Coie website describes him as a former senior Justice Department official with extensive national security and cybersecurity experience: "[Sussmann] is engaged on some of the most sophisticated, high-stakes matters today, such as his representation of the Democratic National Committee and Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign in their responses to Russian hacking in the 2016 presidential election."

“Prior to joining Perkins Coie, Michael Sussmann served as a cybercrime prosecutor in the Criminal Division of the Department of Justice during both Republican and Democratic administrations. As a result, Sussmann is regularly retained by clients with complex cybersecurity matters.”

Testifying before a joint session of the House Judiciary and Oversight Committees, Mr. Baker said Mr. Sussmann approached him. The contact was initiated before the FBI and Justice Department applied for a Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act warrant for key Trump campaign figure Carter Page, according to the Daily Caller’s report.

When Sussmann met with Mr. Baker on behalf of a client, it was connected to the firm’s representation of the Hillary Clinton Campaign, the DNC or any Political Law Group client,” the statement said.

Old article with quote by Sussmann about hacking the DNC election:

Federal authorities have declined to pinpoint blame for the DNC hack, although Sussmann said Democratic leaders “know that it’s Russian state-sponsored.”

“We saw most activity from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Moscow time,” Sussmann said

“It’s really a guessing game now as to why they’re doing what they’re doing,” he said, adding that it appears to be “a broad campaign to hack party and campaign systems” across the political spectrum.

“There’s certainly more out there. We don’t know what we’ll see.”

Another article quoting Sussmann:

Michael Sussmann, a former Justice Department lawyer who prosecuted computer crimes, said U.S. law enforcement agencies may in fact prefer that the Web’s most wanted are parked behind CloudFlare rather than a foreign service over which they have no jurisdiction.

Federal investigators “want to gather information from as many sources as they can, and they’re happy to get it,” Sussmann said.
