>"When you change the way you look at a thing, the thing itself changes" – Dr. Wayne Dyer

Totally agree - perspective changes everything.

Think of the analogy of the caterpillar in a cabbage patch munching cabbage leaves in a walled backyard. His perspective is totally limited by the narrowness of his activities and surroundings. Now imagine the caterpillar has become a butterfly and can fly way, way up and view the whole neighbourhood and beyond.

While we remain mentally stuck in our locale and limit our understanding to present time and location and consider only that which immediately touches on our person, we are like that caterpillar.

When we mentally take the 40,000 ft perspective (the butterfly) we can span all of human history and geography and philosophy and knowledge etc etc (if we choose) and see how everything is connected.

Perspective is everything.

THEY would have us all remain locked under our respective cabbage leaves in our backyards, totally preoccupied with self and blind to the bigger picture. When we awake and become "butterflies" we begin to see things differently - the context changes and broadens; our understanding expands; past, present and future become more visible; it's a whole new world.
