i once spent over 6k on one tooth. i was young and naive, told to get a root canal, ok 1k for that 1k for crown, kept getting infected, had it re done 6 months later after being on antbiotics the whole 6 months, bad infection, another 2k down the drain. then eventually had to have it pulled, gum surgery to remove some root, and then a bridge. 6k for one tooth that nearly killed me. antiniotics for 6 months!!! because i didn't have another 2k and there was nobody willing to work with me for payment plans.

something is very wrong when the emergency room doctor is insisting you will die if u dont get the tooth pulled and the dentist wants you to spend a few more thousand to try to save it.
