Eleven dead babies found hidden in the ceiling of a former US funeral home

Detroit business was shut down after a surprise inspection found bodies kept in an unrefrigerated garage and some covered with mould

According to The Detroit News, eight bodies were found in a cardboard box and three others were found in bin bags inside a casket, all concealed in a compartment in the ceiling. The builders called the police, who ordered the rest of the property searched.

The inspectors showed up by surprise and were at first denied entry; once inside they found more than minor violations. Bodies from 2017 had been kept in an unrefrigerated garage. Other embalmed bodies that were improperly kept for months were covered with mold. The inspectors also claimed the owners had mishandled funds and suspended the funeral home’s license.

“But we can confirm that our work will continue to reflect our best assessment of how best to serve people around the world, as set forth in our mission and our code of conduct. Of course, should we have something to announce in the future, we would be more than happy to brief you and your staff on those plans.”

Add Greece to the list of countries pressing for more US troops

STUTTGART, Germany — Greece has invited the U.S. to set up new bases in the country, offering up coastal northeastern cities that would place American forces at the gateway to the Black Sea and in close proximity to the Balkans.

Defense Minister Panos Kammenos, during a news briefing Wednesday with Defense Secretary Jim Mattis, said Athens wants the U.S. to establish a larger, more permanent presence in Greece.

While a base at Souda Bay on the island of Crete has long been a key location for the U.S. Navy, the Pentagon is welcome to build up in other Greek locales, Kammenos said.

“It is very important for Greece that the United States deploy military assets in Greece on a more permanent basis, not only in Souda Bay but also in Larissa, in Volos, in Alexandroupoli,” he said.

Greece is pressing for more troops at a time when regional rival Turkey has become more unpredictable and Russia more active in Greece’s neighborhood. In September, Greek officials made similar overtures during a visit by Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman Gen. Joseph Dunford.

The change is central to ICANN’s project to upgrade the top pair of cryptographic keys used in the Domain Name System Security Extensions (DNSSEC) protocol — commonly known as the root zone key signing key (KSK) — which secures the internet's foundational servers. This so-called root KSK rollover from the 2010 KSK to the 2017 KSK was supposed to take place almost a year ago but was delayed until Oct. 11 of this year because of concerns it might disrupt internet connectivity to significant numbers of web users.
