It's not a riddle if you do a few things...
1) Stop thinking that "dirty" prosecutors can be involved in this in any way. They can't. Neither side gains from this because their outcome can be dismissed by whichever side loses.
2) Stop thinking that Trump is a criminal that blackmails people. He doesn't. He doesn't need to. He picks people that will do their job, and fires them if they don't. Trump is about the rule of law, and frankly, NONE of this works unless the law is followed, strictly.
3) Stop thinking that ANYTHING the media reports is true. None of it is. Trump uses this to his advantage - they chase after red herrings while he gets other stuff done. Every story about RR or RM is either #fakenews, or taken so far out of context to be unbelievable.
4) Stop thinking that Trump is an idiot. He didn't get duped, nobody pulled a fast one on him, everybody that has served in a position in his administration/campaign was there for a purpose. We may not ever be privy to those various purposes.
5) Remember that Trump first worked with the FBI as an informant in the 1980s.
6) See #5 and think about who he might have actually known, very well, in the intervening years. You may surprise yourself. The crumbs are out there.
