There's just one problem with this.
Fundamentalist and those like them love Israel. Fundamentalist believe that Israel are God's chosen people, and that is why an odd relationship exists between the Christians and the Jews.
The script you are presenting does not fit into any of the eschatological interpretations I have ever seen, and I have seen and read many…both scholarly and academic, and fictional, even the sensational.
Any armies that come against Israel will actually be part of either the AntiChrist forces or of the Dragon/ Armies of the East. By the USA and NATO attacking Israel, it will cause Fundamentalist Christians to actually act against the US Government as being the AntiChrist Army or joined with the AntiChrist.
Even now, thre is a lot of agitation and disbelief at the diplomatoc flaps between Obama and Netenyahu. Many Fundementalist Christians and Jews are disturbed by the growing wedge between USA and Israel… this is one of the subtle elements that has led many to seriously or jokingly wonder if Obama is the AntiChrist.
You can see support for Israel by Christians juxtaposed against cultural icons here in the South, generally the hot bed of Christian Fundamentalism. Just ride through the rolling countryside of Virginia or North Carolina…and you will see it. Glaring, blinking roadside signs in front of churches proclaiming "We Support Israel" or "Pray for Our Troops. Pray For Israel"…or in people's yard will be an Israeli Flag…right beside an American Flag or a Confederate Battle Flag. One home I ride by has a Virginia state flag, the First Flag of the Confederacy, and an Israeli Flag, and a Christian flag.
For fear of becomining long winded, let me close by saying that a war…however manufactured, against Israel…even with an AntiChrist… would not bode well for the USA. There are a few different types of Fundamentalist Christians.
Some are pacifist…peaceful and forgiving and fearful of the end. They would go underground and hide from the "beast government" and await the rapture and trying to avoid "the mark" and internment or death by that government.
Some would come out and fight the "beast government" as "The Army of God" or in the classic hymn "Onward All Ye Christian Soldiers"…this would unleash pure hell here i the USA. I do not doubt a large number would be killed by superior firepower and technology. However, many of these old boys are verterans, military trained, know how to hunt and use multiple types of weapons, and they already have them…many, many of them, they know the terrain, and could operate a guerilla type war that would do to the USA what happened to the Balkans about 16 years ago.
Then you would have some that would come out and start to witness, and evangelism, and preach… throwing themselves and sacrificing themselves aginst the government as martyres…and any inprisonment, punishment, detention, prosecution and perscution would only reinforce the idea that they were doing the "Lord's work" and only back up what is written in the Bible about" the end times."
Such events would only push those that are "sitting on the fence" into the "Fundementalist Fold" because it would appear that the "crazies" were right all along…the Apocolypse is happening and I better get right with God…
Frankly, it just sounds like a bad idea if thought through.
