It really makes me wonder why spacex would care. But then again, maybe these Satelites also work the other way around too? If you can pinpoint a vector in the earth you can also draw it out into space, the Z coordinates becoming the mere distance out from the surface of the earth. In a way, this would extend our lat/long system outwards to be useful for objects out in space as well?!
The other scary aspect of Iridium is tracking planes, sure, but what else do they plan to track?
