So called "Patriots" think that carving some faces on a mountain is somehow sacred and great and patriotic? I believe God said that idol worship was a sin? When are we going to stop sinning against God?
I'm willing to forgive (I am Dakota Sioux from the other side of the state), my father was a white German. In South Dakota we have done a lot of forgiving, but to expect us to forget...that is a whole other story.
Carving up mountains for the sake of image to me is appalling, but what's done is done. I don't hold it against Native American's flipping off Mount Rushmore, and I don't think it is unpatriotic for them to do so.
Do you know how many Native VETERANS I see here in South Dakota and other states? Just visit the Sisseton Pow Wow on Old Agency during the Fourth Of July! THESE PEOPLE LOVE THIS COUNTRY AND O NOT TAKE IT FOR GRANTED!
Heck, The Reservations by the Black Hills were calling for a new form of government that was inspired by Ron Paul, for God's sake!
When change happens in this country, it will first happen on the reservations. The Black Hills are the Heart of the country...what happens there, effects the whole country.
That is the Native belief, and has always been my belief.
