The winds notorious for fueling Southern California wildfires were expected to kick up for the first time this year on Sunday night, putting the region on alert, according to the National Weather Service.

The season's first major Santa Ana winds may reach gusts of up to 75 mph in the region's mountains, creating critical fire weather conditions through Tuesday night.

Last year, the winds drove the Thomas Fire, which destroyed more than 280,000 acres in Santa Barbara and Ventura counties. and took more than a month to contain. Before the Mendocino Complex Fire in Northern California surpassed it this summer, the Thomas Fire was the largest wildfire in the state's modern history.

The fire warnings cover parts of Los Angeles, Ventura, Santa Barbara, San Luis Obispo, Riverside and San Bernardino counties. Strong winds, low relative humidity and warm temperatures can combine to fuel life and property-threatening fires.

In Los Angeles and Ventura counties especially, gusts of 45 to 65 mph will dry out fuel made wet by recent rainfall, according to the advisory. Minimum humidities between 4 and 12 percent Monday and Tuesday and temperatures reaching 81 to 91 degrees will also create dry, hot air that could rapidly spread fires. Any fires could start spot fires far ahead of the main body of flames and behave erratically, reported the Ventura County Star, part of the USA TODAY Network.

The weather service advised the public to use caution near fire-ignition sources, noting the potential for rapid fire growth and extreme fire behavior. Sudden gusty cross winds may also make driving difficult and cause power outages. People should stay away from downed trees and power lines, the Los Angeles forecast office tweeted.

The Santa Ana winds, which are most common from September through May, drive dry air from over the inland deserts of California and the Southwest. They blow over mountains between the state's coast and desert areas, compressing and warming up. The relative humidity of the warming air then drops, drying out vegetation and making prime fuel for wildfires.

F-16 Accidentally Blown Up By Technician

A maintenance worker accidentally fired a 20mm Vulcan cannon from an F-16 jet at a Belgian air force base, destroying a nearby F-16 jet and damaging others, according to reports.

The technician at Florennes Air Basein southern Belgium accidentally fired the weapon while performing maintenance work on the plane, hitting an F16 parked on tarmac in front of a hangar, Avio News reported.

The plane hit was full of fuel at the time and caught fire, and another plane nearby was damaged. The Belgian Airforce confirmed the incident at the airbase, and said that two mechanics were being treated for hearing loss caused by the blast.

An investigation has been opened into Thursday’s incident and the commander of the Florennes airfield told Belgium’s RTBF television that the inquiry would look at whether there was any wrongdoing.

“You can’t help thinking of what a disaster this could have been,” said Colonel Didier Polome, who flew back from the Baltic where Belgian F-16s are policing NATO’s frontier with Russia.

LODI, Calif. (KCRA) — A skydiver was killed when her parachute failed to deploy during a jump Sunday at the Lodi Parachute Center, authorities said.

According to the Federal Aviation Administration, the skydiver was using her own equipment.

Officials from the Coroner's Office in San Joaquin County were en route to the scene Sunday afternoon, according to the Sheriff's Department.

According to FAA spokesman Ian Gregor, the agency's skydiving accident investigations are typically limited to determining whether the parachute was properly packed.

Sunday's death is the latest in a series of fatalities and violations at the Lodi Parachute Center.

From 1999 to 2017, 15 people died jumping from planes that took off from the parachute center.

In September 2016, 20 instructors at the center were suspended and 120 others were told they needed to undergo more training after an investigation by the United States Parachute Association.

Earlier this year, the FBI served a search warrant at the skydiving center.

At the time, the FBI did not disclose what the search warrant was connected to or what was found, but agents were seen leaving the center with cardboard boxes and filled trash bags.

Drum, a convicted felon who reportedly served four years for drug-related offenses, knew both men were sex offenders. Both were shot multiple times and Drum was armed with a 9mm pistol when he was arrested, authorities said. He took full responsibility for "taking care of some problems," authorities said.

KOMO-TV reported that the judge told Drum's supporters to back off from attacks on the victims' families. The wife of one of the victims said people who support Drum and consider him a "hero" have stalked their house, thrown things at their car, spat on them and more.

As Drum was being lead out of court he turned to his friends and family in the gallery he loved them and a friend of Blanton responded, "See you in hell."

Some locals approve of Drum's vigilante actions.

"I honestly feel that it was justified," one man told KOMO.

but dude sat next to a 3rd in the county jail and shoved a pencil through his ear straight to the brain, that one lived, but still. fucking BAM.

About a week after his sentencing, Drum stabbed a fellow inmate with a sharpened, plastic utensil. The 19-year-old sex offender, who survived the attack, was serving time for failing to register.

When he was released into the general population months later, he fashioned a shiv from a toothbrush and a razor blade and tried to kill another sex offender in the gymnasium.

He has begun collecting information about alternative sex offender sentencing that allows offenders to be released faster if they undergo treatment—which he believes helped knock off a significant portion of the time Jerry Ray spent in prison—in hopes that he can find someone to advocate against it on the outside.

ALL sex offenders in Washington state automatically qualify for half time, and special privelege facilities including getting to have dogs and puppies in their cells to "train" if they "earn it".

oh 100% man. ive seen the the penn up there. at any given time, 65-70% of inmates were sex offenders, not counting their private sex offender prisons on the compound.

i know for a fact city county and state officials and prosecutors protect their sex offender kids and have insane deals cut for them, including the former governor, and one shady piece of shit prosecutor bitch that moved up from l.a. her pussy ass kid not only tried to frame my ass with drugs and the local cops, multiple times, she had him cut out on some half assed statutory rape age technicality bullshit. these people use threats against the victims and would be prosecution side as well as the defense. its the shadiest state ive ever been, besides hawaii. especially the dea thinking they run shit up there, FUCK you guys.

i know for a fact the dea covered up some insanely heinous shit up there too. big time shit. their own kids were the biggest drug dealers in the high school syndicate in the entire city, not just weed, not just growing weed, acid, shrooms, coke, every fucking thing.

wonder were all THAT shit was coming from and connections were made… hmm……

dude seriously man. it's not like the cops up there do a DAMN thing other than harass highschoolers partying, or when weed was illegal still, proceed to shred the entire inside of my car including the fucking firewall panelling complete with muddy fucking dog prints, while holding everyone weapons ready in the freezing fucking cold for fucking hours, because we were hotboxing a bowl. ONE. bowl.

i tried to file police harassment suits multiple times, same corrupt prosecutors kids we knew threw it right back at us.

niggers break into my house or sketchy low income housing fucktards and steal my shit, while im at school, while they are technically also required to be there and never were, cops couldnt care fucking less. my own family would even get the short stick from these pieces of shit, even just trying to make simple reports for insurance after they wouldnt do jack shit other than try to find a new way to fuck us, including their own lawyers, also involed in later ensuing dea scandal coverups.

never ever even in a movie have i seen every defense lawyer in an entire county work for the prosecution and police for at the very least 10 years.

i fired a thirty thousand dollar lawyer in court just to make a point so at least it was on record, because best believe these asshats destroy as much evidence as they fabricate.

shit is endemic to that fucking hellhole.
