How the hell did this rumor start? I'd heard they moved all the equipment to Wright-Patt a couple of days beforehand.
No doubt the Globe's office has been taking heavy flak from the massive genealogy community amongst old-school Boston Brahmins.
Do not ever fuck with old people whose ancestors landed at Plymouth Rock, and for whom towns are named. They are armed with a shit-ton of irrefutable documented proof.
Look, I've heard at least two F22's blasting around over metro Atl since Saturday. There was an airshow at Rome, Georgia. In fact, heard them up again a couple of hours ago, no doubt flying home to wherever they're based.
I did see some aircraft damaged in hangars in some helicopter video in a Tyndall flyover a few days ago. Not known if they were F22s.
It's just inconceivable to me that they would leave flight-worthy equipment sitting there when they known a storm is coming in.
That's the kind of screwup that would result in big demotions. Not the kind of risk those people are willing to take.
Need for Tyndall AFB's PIO to issue a statement.
