We have our similarities and our differences, or all would indeed be NPCs/robots. Will you agree that not all are programmed to the same? Many are programmed to not discern for themselves, to believe what they are told by those who actually DO se themselves as "above" humanity.. That's a fact. Rule. Of. Law. is how it's fixed. Holding accountable those who are commissioned to uphold the law is vital. The civilized way.
