Spouse is a legal immigrant (now citizen) of 20+ years.
Screening legal immigrants for TB is/was a big deal. Rigorous testing for that and other diseases. USA had reduced TB to zero and didn't/doesn't want any more.
With open Mexico border it can now be re-introduced to US population very easily.
