Before CBTS melted down, Q posted a statement saying that he would prove the security of the trip by making no further post under that trip.
Anyone seen that trip show up?
That is a 64bit SHA hash on the trip, if my count is accurate. At one Terahash/second it would take roughly 6 months to crack that trip. 50% odds at 3 months. That is on the order of ASICs designed for Bitcoin mining… But it is not clear if those could so easily be reprogrammed to target a much smaller key. Likely not, so we are at FPGA and graphics card speeds. Which would require several dedicated rigs or an FPGA server card to crack in that time frame.
A supercomputer dedicated to that task could make a couple days of it… But who pulls the trigger on that decision? The internal politics of such an overt move to simply be able to post as Q and confuse the boards for an evening until Q validates another trip is… Meh. Further, if Q is a highly placed insider with a network of support, the retooling of a supercomputer to try and crack the trip would likely trip that network and he would simply switch to a new form of authentication.
So we are down to trolls with server hardware who can pump around a a Terahash or two and run 24/7. Q still has time before he needs to drop in with another trip.
To understand - the last trip took about two and a half months to crack with a dictionary attack… Given that Matlock is in the standard set of words and phrases, that is only like a hundred million options, and CPU SHA rates should crack that in a minute. Meaning they either never tried to crack it, or they have to actually submit to the server to trial a hash. Which… Means a random hash input would take longer than the life of the universe to crack. Even a dictionary attack is improbable at that rate, and would rely on Q's trip phrase being a standard word.
Anyway…. We can be pretty certain that Q will not post under this trip for some time. The ten days of darkness, if meant for him, would imply this was intended all along after his first trip was cracked (Matlock). Ten days puts him right at the Fake News Awards. Which … When Trump was originally going to hold them was close to when Q would have been at ten days of darkness before the board meltdown.
As such, I am still suspect that the board owner's meltdown at CBTS was planned. However, in context of the above, it could indicate an organic development. The cracked trip was planned - the complete freak out at CBTS by the owner was not, had to be dealt with, and here we stand with the integrity of the trip being validated.
