How are we supposed to do research on pre-flood civilizations? Should we deffer to Plato's nebulous description that was written 9000 years after this flood supposedly happened? Or should I wade through the works of people like Eric Von Daniken, Micheal Tellinger, and Sitchen and hope that they aren't lying?

I do know that the "Ancient Aliens" theory is widely promoted on the history channel, and many of its claims are outright lies

I do know that social scientists have been studying people who believe in alien cults and channelers as far back as the 1970s (See Influence Chapter 4: Commitment and Consistency by Robert Cialdini). It's not a large leap of logic to infer that intelligence agencies, that are obsessed with controlling the mind, would promulgate crazy ideas in the course of their experiments.
